Really enjoyed reading this, you make great points. I live in another country to my family, and although I have a weekly Skype session with my parents, and am on Whatsapp with them and my sisters, as well as connecting with cousins on other social media, it's been two years since I last saw them face to face. It doesn't feel like its been that long, but it has. Same with friends who live further away, we interact all the time, but it's been ages since we were last in the same room together. Seeing as I met my husband online I can't deny that you can have meaningful connections this way, but it's no substitute for actually being together 'in real life'.

Wow! What a powerful statement! You made several points that I haven’t even thought about. I’ve been the “wait till you get ahold of me” type friend and you made me think about it. If my friends feel the same way then there’s no progress within the friendship. I am definitely going to be making some changes in my lifestyle especially surrounding the way I interact and communicate with others. You are a very good writer!
